Danvers Fleury, Co-Founder
Role: Field General

Danvers runs strategy & innovation at Change & Course. His primary concern is facilitating the growth and optimal positioning of new concepts. In 2008 he founded Converdant: The Business Builders, a management consultancy for green startups powered by the innovation platform he used at Idea Crossing’s Innovation Challenge, where he captained the World Championship team in 2007 and the Most Innovative US team (2nd overall) in 2006. Prior to this, Danvers ran Domania.com’s business- to- consumer division from 2002 through 2004, where he created several new forms of integrated advertising content and more than doubled operating revenues. After Domania.com was purchased by LendingTree, LLC, he worked as an online marketer for Equinox (acquired by Oracle) and peer- to- peer lending firm CircleLending (now Virgin Money). Fleury’s writing has been published on Businessweek.com and his business plan work has been featured on CNN/Money and Fortune Small Business Magazine. He received an MBA in General Management and Sustainable Enterprise as a Premiere Fellow at UNC Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Adam Schultz, Co-Founder
Role: Market Evangelist

Adam believes in the power of individuals. He guarantees user centric outcomes at Change & Course through go-to-market & grow-the-market strategies as well as accountability system architecture. In 2006, he founded online marketing firm Bold Interactive, Inc. Before founding Bold, Adam spent 10 years on all sides of the online marketing world, with his last position as head of Research & Product Development for Market Smart Interactive, a search engine marketing company in Morrisville, North Carolina where he started as a staff Marketing Consultant. Adam has run and contributed to online marketing campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, including AOL, Sony Ericsson, Bayer, Lowe’s and Motorola . Adam holds a BFA in design from the University of North Florida.

Erik Snyder, Venture Developer
Role: Market Cartographer

If successful marketing is a journey, then Erik is responsible for plotting the course. He uses his powers of observation, analysis and insight to create a smooth path for walking with clients as we reach their goals together. Prior to joining Change & Course, Erik worked as a marketing generalist for start-up tech companies in the Triangle area. Most recently, he marketed for RadarFind, a biotech firm which was successfully acquired by TeleTracking Technologies in late 2009. Erik holds a BS in Business Management from North Carolina State University.

Gia Lombardo, Venture Developer
Role: Marketing Operations

Gia exemplifies the art of the finish, running point on marketing operations, second level market research, implementation of metric driven web product optimization and deliverable final drafts and QA. A cum laude graduate of Villanova with a BS in marketing and international business, Gia was inducted into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and studied abroad at the UK’s Cass Business School (top 1% percent of business schools globally). She held a series of creative internships including Island Def Jam & Universal Music, as well as tactical marketing positions at top NYC agency Horizon Media, and top Philadelphia agency Red Tettemer. Gia is Adwords Certified.

How we helped them become the most comprehensive internet resource on ethical jewelry issues and turned around their fair and eco-friendly retail jewelry site despite a crippled jewelry sector.

Who We Help

Reflective Images, Inc.’s CEO Marc Choyt used a personal blog to advocate for ethical sourcing and transparency in the global jewelry trade. The website couldn’t create a broad and intensive enough dialogue with the jewelry industry or with fair trade jewelry consumers.

What We Do

Change & Course suggested and created a new website – FairJewelry.org – as the platform for Choyt’s fair trade, environmental and social responsibility advocacy. We also helped him find his market ready voice, equipped him with social media battle tactics and the research tools he needed to inform a more consumer centric editorial strategy. In addition, we relaunched his sustainable wedding jewelry site, ArtisanWeddingRings.com, and implemented a new sourcing transparency model called FRE (Fair, Responsible, Eco-friendly) to help consumers understand the sustainable future built into every ring.

How We Help

FairJewelry.org is now the top search result for “Fair Trade Jewelry”. Google it and see for yourself!

Choyt’s site is read by people from about 130 countries every month.

Their sites maintained sales during 2009 due to improved consumer experience while sales in the sector dropped 18%.

The new site doubled conversion rates getting more sales from the same number of site visitors overnight.

“FairJewelry.org has given me a social platform to launch issues of importance, such as a recent series about the Greenland ruby, which is critically important to the Inuit nation. With Adam’s strategic help, we’ve also learned how to make a difference via Wikipedia, targeted PR, and more. We’ve become our own independent media outlet on fair trade jewelry” – Marc Choyt.

A lot of “green consultants” help big companies get green; we help green companies get big. We help good firms and good people make more money while enhancing their mission. To us, sustainability means implementing models that embrace antagonistic metrics. For instance, smart financial models that blend short-term cash flow with long-term growth.

Or, Community driven human capital systems that build long-term talent pools to be deployed in just-in-time fashion. By embracing paradox, and thinking systemically, we tend to have our biggest impact be on the profit side of your double or triple bottom line (People, Profit & Planet).

Change & Course has made a study of agile programming methodology in the software development space and has modified and evolved its principles towards their application to business services. We pair our team members to engage in constant quality and check-ins. We rotate partners as “Micro-Managers” for hourly check-ins to consistently deploy resources and course corrections on an as needed basis. We architect our work flow on a day to day basis and deploy team innovation exercises in advance of likely bottlenecks to keep things running fast and smooth. The result is high quality work, very, very fast. We find that velocity can be the difference between success and failure in entrepreneurial projects.
